Live on the Wild Side

Living for Jesus should be the most exciting thing you'll ever do! This past month I had the opportunity to attend a child trafficking seminar in Tulsa, run the Incline in Colorado Springs (and deliver treat boxes to the cadets at the Air Force Academy), visit with family in Colleyville, TX, and speak to the youth at Faith Family Church.
In September I was part of a group in New York that ran in stilettos against child trafficking (sctNow.org) There is nothing more exciting than honoring God and serving people. This week I'll deliver turkeys to a homeless shelter with Senator McCarter and Run for Mercy (mercyministries.com) in the Route 66 Marathon in Tulsa. I encourage you to live on the wild side by honoring God and serving people!

Wake up to Your World

Wake up to your world by stretching yourself! My fluffy Maltese, Tally, wakes up every morning by stretching, yawning and stretching some more. He isn't fully awake until he goes through his stretching routine. As Christians we need to wake ourselves up by stretching and learning to do hard things.

James 1:2-4 (The Message) “Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, (you will be stretched) and your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don't try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way."

I encourage you to try new things and challenging things! Allow yourself to go through tests and trials without quitting or giving up! This past weekend I attended the Joyce Meyer's women's conference, The Love Revolution. Women were encouraged to expand their vision for the lost and hurting around them. I challege you to wake up to the needs of those hurting around you and then do something about it! Stretch yourself and get out of your comfort zone! Be passionate about helping those who are hurting! When you begin to put the needs of others before your own, you will live the exciting and fulfilled life you were created for!

This weekend, I will be in New York to stretch myself and walk in stilettos for Stop Child Trafficking Now www.sctnow.org. If you you'd like to partner and donate to my walk, my fundraising page is http://sctnow.donordrive.com/participant/ victoriamccarter

I am excited about the opportunity that this walk brings to Senator McCarter and me (as the Senator's wife!) We can use our voice in government to stand up against the horrors of human trafficking. Pray for us as we work for tougher legislation in the state of Illinois against human trafficking. Kyle will be speaking at the Chicago walk against human trafficking on Saturday. We'd love it if you could join the senator in Chicago! Until next time, keep stretching yourself and know that God has exciting and wonderful things in store for you!

I've been asked over and over "what is it like to be a Senator's wife?" I know you were looking for a very deep profound change to have taken place, but the answer is really quite simple. I take a lot more suits to the cleaners and wash more button down shirts than ever before.
Before being a Senator's wife, I did not eat dinner with other Senators and the governor of Illinois at the governor's mansion. So I would say things have changed in that arena. Another change is that I find myself praying more earnestly for our elected officials, especially my husband. I have a renewed sense of leadership and the importance of having Godly men and women in office.
I've also taken up a huge interest and liking to Abraham Lincoln. It's easy to do when your husband is a senator in the Land of Lincoln. Lincoln wrote, " Without the assistance of that Divine Being whoever attended him, I cannot succeed. With that assistance, I cannot fail". I choose to make this my senator's wife motto. Success will come only with reliance on God.
I choose to continue to look to Jesus for guidance. I choose to be a senator's wife who will honor God and serve people.
